On December 11, 2018 Mary Jayne Lillion Criss passed away of natural causes while residing at the Sterling Care Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Born on October 15, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents John and Rose Lillion, that were originally from Mestigne, Hungary. Her four brothers, Steve Lillion, Joe Lillion, John Lillion, Frank Lillion, her sister, Julia B. Lillion Criss and grandson Michael David Criss all predeceases her. A graduate of Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she married Carl S. Criss Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1947. He predeceased her in January 29, 1984. They had four children, Lillian Criss-Geisler, Carl S. Criss III married to Virginia (Prissy) Whitten, Debra Sue Criss-Licari married to Frank Licari and Jon D. Criss married to Laura Panion-Criss. She also had 9 grandchildren: Jason Licari, Tina Licari, Christopher Geisler, Carl S. Criss IV, Jon David Criss Jr., Leanna Criss, Ashlee Criss, Elizabeth Criss-Roberts and Jamie Criss and 5 great grandchildren: Katie Licari, Scarlett Criss, Haylie Roberts, Jon D. Criss III, Kara Geisler, Damian Harrison.

Mary and Carl raised their family in Oakmont, Pennsylvania where she was active in community social activities. They were members of St. Irenaeus Church of Oakmont PA where their children went to school. Mary was also a member of East Pittsburgh’ Singerbunt Germany club of Turtle Creek PA and enjoyed participating in the annual Lion’s Club Variety Shows, crafting, singing and playing bingo. Family gatherings and holidays were some of her favorite times. Her Sundays were always a highlight during football season. Her Steelers were her life.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of Debra S. Licari on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Hagerstown, Maryland. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Mary’s favorite charity, the Social Services Hospice Unit, Washington County, Hagerstown, MD.
