Obituary

Obituary for Shirley Margaret Perticone

A Letter to my Mom,

To my loving Mom, Shirley Perticone, born October 22, 1943. Growing up with you was such a great experience, you were and always have been a loving mother. We had so many great times together, too many to mention on paper. You were very caring towards your grandchildren, Nick, Travis, Shannon, Brittany and Lauren. They will miss you so much, but we know you will live forever with us in our hearts.
I remember when I first found out I was pregnant, I was so scared to tell you but when I did you and Daddy were so happy and excited for your first grandson and four years later your other grandson Travis came along. You spoiled my boys so much with your love that will always remain in my heart and in their hearts. I loved taking you to Ocean City, shopping, dining at restaurants and just car rides. I loved when you came to my house and later in life moving in with Nick and I, and Travis and Nick for five wonderful years was a true blessing. The last year and a half you were so sick, but you hung in with us until the very end.
Thank you for being an amazing mother to Sharon and I, an amazing grandmother to Nick, Travis, Shannon, Brittany and Lauren, and also for being an amazing great grandmother.
May you rest in peace with Dad, Grandmom and all of our family. Daddy is going to tell you how happy he is to see you again.

Love you Mom,
Your daughter, Theresa (Perticone)Candeloro
Please Rest in Peace Mom, I love you and miss you so badly.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Shirley in full health, but even as I met her, she seemed a kind and caring member of the family. She definitely had a lively spark even through this difficulty: I remember her making some sassy faces and funny comments in a small conversation about her younger days while visiting with the family at the beach, getting to know her while asking about her makeup. Her eyebrow-wiggle she gave one day leaves a lasting smile in my heart. If her grandson, Travis, is any indication on her character, she is a fireball of a woman that left the world brighter and warmer in her passing, and far from emptier. I’m glad to have been introduced to her, even if it was brief. Loving Family Friend John Sackett

Dearest Grandma Shirley, You were such a wonderful grandma and my favorite one all of my life and forever on. I remember so many found memories together, too countless to say. You took care of me like your own children and always wanted me around and you cooked such beautiful, delicious meals and my favorite was your scrambled eggs with the ketchup on it. You’ve always shown me love, care, kindness, honesty and strength that I’ll never forget. You raised a great daughter (Theresa), my mother and you taught her to be strong and instilled your best into her, which has passed down to me, which we are all thankful and grateful for. The last few years of your life were wonderful to be with you watching movies, TV, etc., anything I did being around you was great. Knowing you were in bed in your bed next to my room was always great knowing you’re comfortable and content. For all of your life that I haven’t known you since I wasn’t born then, I know you were a joy and a wonderful person to be around and you touched many lives. You were like that since I’ve been born and that has never changed. Thank you for raising me too, along with my mom, we will never forget you and you’ll always be in our hearts. Thank you for giving birth to my mom, which in turn she gave birth to me, I am very grateful to have your bloodline. I am so grateful and lucky to be alive because of you and my mom. I will miss you forever. Your loving grandson, Travis Candeloro
