Obituary for Thomas Winfred Adkins

Thomas W. Adkins., 60, of Charles Town WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle in Kearneysville, WV., He was born in Bluefield WV on October 8, 1958 and was the son of the late Herbert Paul and Nadine (Sizemore) Adkins. Tom was a 1977 graduate of Gaithersburg High School where he played football and was recognized for perfect attendance during his entire 12 years of school. He was the owner of Adkins Roofing of Rockville MD and spent the final years prior to his disability in the service of the Lord at the Hagerstown Rescue Mission. He attended services and Sunday School at St James Lutheran Church in Uvilla WV. Tom spent much of his time studying the Bible and loved to talk about scripture.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Randy and Herbert Paul (Buddy), and brother-in-law Thomas Barnhill.

Tom is survived by his son Slade, of Ft Hood TX, daughter Alexandrea, of Poolesville MD, granddaughters McKenzie and Amelia, sister Paula Ann (Gidget) Barnhill of Rockville MD, sister Janet and brother-in-law Richard Rooney, of Beaufort SC, sister Katie (Rose) and brother-in-law Ralph Getzandanner, of Kearneysville, WV and sister-in-law Ruth Adkins of Hagerstown, MD. He was known and loved as uncle “Winnie” by his many Nieces and Nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle or a charity of donor’s choice. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Memorial Service to be held at St. James Luther Church on July 28th, 2019 at 2:00 pm, following reception at St. James Luther Hall, 4320 Shepherdstown Pike, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442.
