Marcia “Marcey” Ann Bartkow Zaborski passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Although she was only 69 years of age at the time of her passing, Marcey lived a full and memorable life and made a significant impact in the lives of her family, friends and the Washington DC commercial real estate community.
Marcey was passionate about life and enjoyed travelling - especially going to the beach, hiking with her beloved dog Toby Keith, giving back to the community through volunteerism; Food and Friends, Suburban Hospital Foundation and the Country Goes Pink Foundation (CGP) which she founded. Marcey was full of boundless energy and enthusiasm and was always up for an adventure or to try something new. She enjoyed a good debate and was willing to share her opinions...even if you didn’t necessarily want to hear them. Most of all Marcey loved a good party and any celebration with family and friends. She built a family circle with many neighbors in her cherished community of Rock Creek Gardens where she lived for over 35 years. Her next journey was to have been retirement in Leland, NC which, though never realized, brought her great joy and hope.
Marcey was born in Bronxville, New York, however, she spent the majority of her life as a Marylander residing in Silver Spring. She was the daughter of the late Walter J. Bartkow and Diane Napoliello Bartkow. Marcey is survived by her brothers: Robert J. Bartkow (and wife Lynda), of Alpharetta, GA, and John Bartkow (and wife Maureen) of Rockville, MD, and sister Jean Bartkow Lee (and husband Mike), of Monroe, GA; Also survived by nieces; Alison Bartkow Wenz (and husband Adam), Carrie Lee Helton, Jennifer Bartkow Takach (and husband James), Amanda Lee Bennett (and husband Chris), and nephews; Brett Bartkow (and wife Melanie), Bryan Bartkow (and wife Kelli), and David Lee (and wife Nicole).
