Louis Edgar Sherrard, 60, of Funkstown, Md., passed away on December 21, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center.
He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 12, 1959 to the late Louis Edgar Sherrard Sr. and the late Patricia Ann Patterson later known as Victoria Michael.
He was the oldest of eight children.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother Christopher Joseph “Kip” Sherrard.
He is survived by his sister, Mary G. Cramer and his brothers John A. Sherrard, Raymond H. McJonathan, Benjamin D. Sherrard, Stephen R. McJonathan and Samuel P.H. McJonathan.
He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Ginger Brandi Sherrard.
He was raised in Virginia, California and Maryland. After high school he worked as a general contractor and was last employed at a logistics company in Williamsport, Md.
In his youth he was an avid runner achieving the JFK 50 Mile in the top 10 and was a prospect for major league baseball.
Only if one has been in the deepest valley, will one ever know how magnificent it is to stand on the highest mountain with two of Lou’s mottos being “Stay positive” and “You gotta love it!!”
A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 3 at Pathway Community Church, 1028 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, Md. A meal will be provided for all in attendance following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pathway Church in memory of Louis.
