Margaret “Peggy” Joan Judy, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 7, 2020.
She was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on August 8, 1941 to the late Mildred and Hubert Bowman. She and her parents were active members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Peggy was a nurse in hospitals and nursing homes during the early part of her career, and then worked in home health care until 1981 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Although her diagnosis kept her from working outside the home, Peggy enjoyed gardening, cooking, planning and hosting barbeques for family and friends, and taking care of everyone, including helping to raise her grandchildren.
As her MS progressed and she was unable to participate in some of her past activities, Peggy became an avid bird watcher and was a whiz at word games and puzzles. She had a love of music and a deep passion for all things Elvis.
Peggy is survived by her four children, LaWanna Judy, Edwiena Politte, Joe Judy II, and Kimberly Ardinger; her grandchildren, Tyler Politte, Haley Barnhart, Taylor Politte and Landon May; and her great granddaughter, Oaklee Jane Barnhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Carrie, and her son-in-law, Tad Politte.
The family is planning a memorial service in the Hagerstown area in the spring.
