Christine Magdalena Kimm (nee Fichtl) 85, passed away quietly in her home on Thursday September 3, 2020 in Inwood West Virginia. She was born on November 7, 1934 in Munich Germany to Ludwig and Magdalena Fichtl. She was the last surviving member of her generation in her extended family.
She married Thomas S. Kimm, a U.S. Army soldier, in Munich on April 20, 1956. She became a naturalized American citizen on December 22, 1958, while her husband was stationed at Fort Ord California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died much too young in April of 1969; by her parents, her sister Anna Klausner, her brother Theodore Fichtl and many beloved cousins.
She is survived by her daughter Annemarie C. Ford, son-in-law Todd Ford, her grandchildren Sara and Jacob Ford, and her son Thomas S. Kimm. She was always grateful for the friendship of her extended family in Germany and of the extended family of her husband in the mid-west.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday September 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Leo Catholic Church in Inwood West Virginia.
She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery on a date that is yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, her family would be grateful for donations made in her name to Hospice of the Panhandle, who were so helpful in caring for her in her final days.
